Watches and Wonders 2023: Some thoughts on the Jaeger Lecoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon.
Please note that I could only furtively see the Reverso Tribute Tourbillon at Watches and Wonders, so I will just post some quick thoughts on this one.
5 years ago, Jaeger Lecoultre introduced the Reverso Tribute Tourbillon in the catalogue.

5 years later, Jaeger Lecoultre issues a new version of the Reverso Tribute Tourbillon. Platinum has been changed for rose gold, blue for silver on the front, Cotes de Genève for Hobnail on the verso, but we still have the same complications which are the second time zone and the night and day indicator, and the same case size: 45, 5 x 27, 4 mm, for a height of 9, 15 mm. THAT would have been THE perfect size for the Reverso Tribute Chronograph we'll soon put on line!
Chromatically speaking, I prefer the combination of the first Tribute Duoface Tourbillon. Blue and platinum always worked to perfection together. BUT it is very subjective, and others may prefer the rose gold iteration, as well.
One thing is sure, the verso dial of this watch is a pure marvel. The bridges are made in rose gold, and are handmade guilloché.
More precious and sophisticated than the verso of the platinum version. It makes me think, a bit; of the Reverso Tourbillon in rose gold, from 1993:

Three things I didn't like on the platinum, which I still don't like on this version:
- The power reserve of its movement, the Cal 847, with only 38 hours.
- The Tourbillon on the recto. On the back, it is so more sublime, and on the recto, it makes a hole on the dial.
- The silver oplaine color dial on the recto. I find it a bit... Blend.
And one thing I fear... The price. The former platinum was retailed at 120, 000 Euros. We might be close to that, or even above!

I agree....
with every single one of your bullet points. For that amount of money (I think I saw $140K), there are simply better tourbillon options in my opinion.... By the way, I don't think I ever researched what was JLC asking for the Tribute Reverso Gyrotourbillo...

At that price point it would be between Berthoud and the Gyro, but I can't imagine not going for the Gyro.... Can't wait for your FB impressions!!
Love it but...
I cant help but feel they could gone a little further with the finishing, some missed opportunities RE: internal angles. Even if they had to charge more for it, it's something I would be ok with paying.
Besides pricing
I always thought that tourbillons are best hidden from the front dial, hidden in the back out of good taste and natural restraint, and the reverso is perfect case for that purpose.
What was the size of older version?

Interesting point you are making, the positioning of Tourbillon 🤔 For the reverso, agreed that having in the back is the most logical place, especially since the form factor of the reverso is made for hiding functions, specialty like a Tourbillon. Regardi...

Move the PR to the back, remove tourbillon from the dial, keep the Pt case and voila, 10 out of 10!
A pre-Richemont JLC would be my choice.
You can get a really nice pre-Richemont Reverso for under $20k in the pre-loved marketplace. Nicely decorated movements with the older models too. As for the new models, not at all surprised at the direction JLC, Panerai, and other Richemont-owned brands ...
Always enjoy your reports on these dream pieces...
and hope to run into them someday. The prices do make one shiver. The killer '93 iteration, on the other hand, is perhaps attainable for us mortals when they pop up from time to time.
The only thing I’m not keen on re the platinum version
Was that it had the same colour blue sunray as the Tribute Duo and Small Seconds….I mean it’s a nice colour but it should’ve been more special given the price
